Is it possible to use RSS to view changes in a certain topic? I don't see RSS icon anywhere in the forum.

Nope and I've tried a few third party sites like page2rss with no luck. It would be really nice to have this feature. If you find something that works, please share.

I believe (but didn't check yet) that WebSite-Watcher could help here. Adding pages would be not so fast as with RSS feeder but it should not be a serious issue. Besides that it's really the only way to get all topic updates for sure 'cause email notifications ain't being delivered if you (me) don't visit the forum for a few days.

It was mentioned (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=833583#post833583) that the forum supports RSS. I read in another topic that it can be found for whole subforums. But I haven't found anything RSS related at all...

I don't remember there ever being rss feeds available but maybe it was another nice feature, like auto url links, that's been disabled.

I just wonder how the others track topics they're interested.

I hit the new posts link and skim through... then hit the last read link on the left side of each thread I want to catch up on... takes you to the next post in the thread you have not read. EASY PEASY

The problem is that if you don't visit the forum after receiving a few notification emails (for example because you don't have anything to say in the topic) they're stop being delivered at all. So you're forced to visit the forum.

I could have sworn that I've wrote a post about the RSSfeed a loooong time ago but since even I can't find it...
Try http://forum.doom9.org/external.php?type=RSS
If you're just interested in one forum use http://forum.doom9.org/external.php?type=RSS&forumid=8 or multiple http://forum.doom9.org/external.php?type=RSS&forumids=8,45
But, nope, there's no way to RSS a single topic, just a complete forum.
(Oh, and I had no idea that the notifications stops after some time, could you give me some specifics?)

Thanks Swede, that helps, is there any way to show the post in the rss feed?

Try RSS1 or RSS2 instead of just RSS, those are the only options for now.

Same with RSS1 and RSS2.
The way the header comes in all replies to a certain thread are seen as duplicates, that's proving to be fairly problematic. For example madvr thread will show on the first reply it catches, which was 6 hours ago but has never show again although there's replies.

Well I'm mostly the reader on Doom9, not the writer. So I don't need to vizit the topics I'm subscribed to often. For example I'm subscribed to http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=146228. After the vizit I receive first a lot of notifications, then one or two in a day. But when I vizit the topic again I find out tens of pages with new messages.

It seems that I've found the way to force the forum engine not to stop sending email notifications. In WebSite-Watcher I have created the bookmark to http://forum.doom9.org/subscription.php?do=viewsubscription (with the authorization macro) and set check period to 1 min. So it works like I vizit the forum every one minute. It works - but it's what is called a crutch. For this to work, I need the computer with WebSite-Watcher to be online permanently.
