I've set up LAV Audio decoder to bitstream AC3 and DTS content so that I can actually hear it. (My speakers are connected via SPDIF to the TV, which is connected via HDMI to the PC.) And this bitstreaming switch is hidden way too far below the DVBViewer interface that it's impossible to reach from my remote control... So it's basically always on.

Bitstreaming is even used for 2.0 stereo content where it's not necessary at all. Also, my Logitech 5.1 speakers have some nice effects that they can apply on uncompressed 2.0 signals, but not on encoded 2.0 signals. In order to activate the effects, the 2.0 signal must not be bitstreamed.

So is there a way to enable bitstreaming only for 5.1 audio content automatically? It shouldn't be so hard for LAV Audio to detect it, I just don't see a switch for that in the configuration dialog.

Currently I've installed LAV 0.56.2 but the change log doesn't say anything about it up to the current version. Think I'm going to update it anyway to be sure. But I don't think it's in there.
