Hi all,

I encode all my movies to MKV container. However, I have an old TV that only supports MP4 container. Currently I use XMedia Recode to quickly convert MKV to MP4, but I would rather do it with MeGUI.

I noticed that even if I select not to encode the movie, MeGUI will still perform this operation when converting it to MP4. Is there a quick and dirty method to convert the container? Thanks.

MkvToMp4 should do what you are looking for.

Video To Video Converter (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Video-to-Video-Converter) is quite good at it and you can add multiple MKVs for remuxing. It's pretty quick.
When you add the MKVs, select DirectStreamCopy from the video conversion presets, then MP4 as the output container. Once that's done, click on "Convert".
It keeps the chapters intact, although I'm not sure about subtitles as I hardly use them myself.

When going from MKV to MP4, MeGUI always re-encodes the video for me too. At least I couldn't seem to find a way to stop it from doing so. When it's the other way around.... MP4 to MKV.... it doesn't re-encode when you tell it not to.

Thanks for confirming this bug, I will add it to the thread. :)
For now, I will use XMedia Recode portable (http://www.xmedia-recode.de/download.html) which is very small compared to other programs and does the conversion very well.
