Here's a first for this forum, I believe:

Does anyone have information or guides for authoring a disc that is compliant with the latest version of Sony's ARccOS protection?

The only information I have is the following:
DVD 5s need 200 MB of unused space
DVD 9s must be OTP
Layer 0 must have 36 MB of free space
Layer 1 must have 167 MB of free space
Having 1 GPRM completely unused allows for optional protection
The main protected content must be at least ten minutes long and not in the first VTS
Disc must strictly comply with DVD Spec (although I suspect that they don't actually care about sub pictures being over cell boundaries)

Does anyone know if these are still the requirements?

Why do you want to know this?

I'm a commercial DVD and Blu-ray author with a client who has adopted ARccOS.

My firm hasn't done an ARccOS project in a long time, and none of the technical people or documentation from that time are still here. I've NEVER done an ARccOS disc myself (although I have extensive experience with RipGuard).

I guess it's OK to ask about it, but don't be surprised if Doom9 members are reluctant to help with that. It seems counterproductive to the basic mission of Doom9.

Well, I guess creating ARccOS "protected" discs will require licensing the required software and/or hardware tools from Sony. So why not ask their support?

neuron2, thanks for the heads-up. I know from a long time lurking here that ARccOS is really just protection in name only, and doesn't deter legitimate backup enthusiasts one jot or tittle.

LoRd_MuldeR, I understand your concerns. ARccOS is only put on at the glass mastering stage, so there are no software options at all for anything related to pre-mastering. I'm just trying to avoid multiple DDP submissions to the replication plant (where the ARccOS license is strictly adhered to).

Well, if all the ARccOS stuff is handled by the replication plant, then I think you should ping somebody there. They should be able to tell you the exact requirements for the master.

By all means, you should discuss such needs with SONY...
