Good method to query file data

Hi all,

We're looking for a simple method for querying the metadata of a video file to determine the average bitrate. Is there a simple program or script or other method that we can implement for this? We need to be able to pass that parameter with the upload to our CDN to enable rate limiting.

Thanks. I expected that would be the suggestion. I think we've already found another tool that may work better for us. But if that doesn't pan out it looks like MediaInfo will do the trick.

BTW, the solution we decided on is a Ruby gem called Rvideo. Works best for us in our Ruby environment.
