Problem ripping VOBs.

Hello.
I'm trying to rip a DVD to my Hard Drive. The files seem to be ripping correctly, in that they recognise that the main title goes for its full duration. However when I try to do something with them (in this case convert to AVI for ease of access when working with subtitles) about 20 minutes of the main title is missing.

Is anyone familiar with this problem? What should I do to fix it?

One does not rip VOBs, one but a DVD.
20 minutes look to me like a VOB file (it depends on the bitrate, as the size of a VOB is limited to 1GB).
Rip the DVD again. There are plenty of guides.

I'm familiar with ripping DVD's, my mistake for saying VOBs.
I know what you mean, but the files are somehow shorter. The files are 20 minutes long, but when I rip them and try to convert to an AVI they're averaging 15 minutes each. Shaving some fifteen minutes off the total running time.

I'll find a guide that might reference a different program to what I used (I used DVD Decrypter). That might help.

What software and procedures are you using to convert the DVD to .AVI?

I believe DVDD still can manage most DVDs on the market.
If not, use AnyDVD or DVDfab.
Once you got them on the HDD, use DVDShrink (or any other) in reauthoring mode to select the movies you wanna convert. Then it's simple.

The OP seems to be indicating that his/her problem arises as a consequence of conversion to .AVI. I don't believe that any of the programs you've suggested would address that properly...

It may not be a ripping issue, the files ripped to their full size, but when playing them or attempting to convert them to a different format they're a few minutes shorter all up. For example a film that should be about 1 hour 45 in length was reduced to about 1 hour 25.

@Setarip_old I was initially loading the files into AVIDemux to get the beginning and end timings for subtitles. I hadn't progressed to the conversion stage yet but I might have used AVIDemux if I'd have gotten that far.

I'll try those other programs, and I'll read the other thread.

I still believe he has the problem of either a bad rip or a bad understanding of the process.

I understand that you have files (???) of 20 minutes long. I presume these are episodes ripped into one single VOB, most probably anime. My guesstimation is that the missing parts are the common credits parts (beginning and ending) which may not be part of the movie even if present in the VOB or in the DVD authoring/editing suite.

Once again, what exactly did you do?

What is the title of the original DVD?
