I'm trying to apply some sort of shader-based antialiasing (FXAA, MLAA, SMAA, etc.) to low resolution footage (400x256) captured from an old 3D game to try and smooth out the edges. I honestly have no idea how to do this (or if there even is software to do it), but it should be possible. When playing a video back in direct3d mode on my player with FXAA enabled on my card, I can see it in action, but I have no idea how to actually capture that to video (or process existing ones).
I know there are AA filters for avisynth, I've tried playing with some of those in the past, but the results looked a little overkill to me, making it more like an oil painting than just smoothing out edges. It's possible I wasn't using ideal settings however, although my guess is AA modes like the ones I mentioned have been more tailored towards 3D content, whereas the avisynth filters were more for anime + interlacing fixing.
Anyway, I just wanted to get some information if there was any software out there that is capable of doing this, or if anyone had suggestions of what else I could try to clean up my footage, I hate aliasing. Thanks in advance.
