[Question]Way to remove DRM from WMV losslessly (no re-encoding)

I fell for the DRM trap when I bought a Tv show from Amazon Instant video. Now I am have been searching for a way to remove the DRM from the file without re-encoding it but have't found a single method to this. The only thing I could find was installing Win XP + drmdbg & a certain version of WMP to obtain a lossless version of that WMV file but I am not in favor installing virtual pc to do this.

I did try freeme2 but it asks for the SID which I don't know how to obtain on Win 7.

Is there any hope of removing DRM on windows 7 losslessly?

I am not aware of any method to remove DRM from WMV files. There possibly are tools but I would go the pragmatic approach and simply play back the file while grabbing the screen with one of the better screen recorders available. Recently I found a free one which uses ffmpeg to grab the screen. Given you have a reasonable powerful PC grabbing a full 720p or 1080p in h264 works fine with it. I can watch out for the name and URL of this recorder if you like to.

Most other tools I know to "circumvent" DRM-burdened stuff usually do the same thing (Recording the screen and allow conversion to other formats afterwards).

Doing screencasting to "unlock" a video might sound lossy and cumbersome but depending on the tools and settings used is barely noticeable (similar to doing BD backups).

You'll need FairUse4WM, but I don't think it works with Windows 7.
