video capture driver not available

Sorry for the newbie question but I have virtual dub and iuvcr but both say video capture driver not available. Is this missing h/w or it is a missing driver s/w? I thought the iuvcr had the video capture driver. pls help. thanks.

You need the capture driver for your particular hardware (TV card, capture card). There is also a universal one for Brooktree/Conexant chipsets on the iulabs page ... you might want to try first the driver that came with your hardware, though.

I am little lost here. I am using a PC but under Systems (control panel) I don't see anything about video cards, I just see video codecs (same thing?). So how do I found out what video card I have and then do I just search for the driver for it that is specific for capturing? any enlightment much appreciated.
