I had several DIVX files that played perfectly well in windows 98.

now that I upgraded to win XP whenever I open them I get the "downloading codec" stuff succesfully and then the video begin but WITHOUT AUDIO!!!! I wonder why! The volume bar does exist and "work" btw.

Win 98 used to say the file had DIVX audio and XP says it has Windows Media Audio. Can this be related??

Do I need another codec or something?

Thanks.

Try installing Nimo Codec Pack and see if it helps you.

or uninstall divx 4.xx, install divx 3.11 and then 4.xx again.

could be the divx audio codec vom 3.11.

If you wondering, DivX 3.11 audio was based on Windows Media Audio.
