How do I rip subtitles off a dvd the easiest way. I wish to import the bmps directly in maestro to use with my cce transcoded video and original ac3 track.
Seems there is no guide for this anywhere?

Thanks

Hi,

I am going to get angry about all this lazy lamers hanging around here. Why the hell you don't hit the search button ?
You'll find at least two posts going in depth into subpictures with Maestro.

I'll skip answering these questions again and again.

Sorry this is just my personal feeling in the mo, don't get it personal it is a general request to all newbies to switch on brain before asking...

Actually I tried subtitles a long time ago using subrip and some convert program to make it into a format that maestro understood. But when compiling the program would crash.

Since I was like 9 months ago, I thought I would hear if anyone had a good easy method. I did a search but found nothing. I guess I must have done something wrong as a search today gave me 21 posts. Sorry for bothering you

I'm not saying you're wrong, but why did you assume that the failed compile was due to Subtitles?

build 2044a, for instance is infamous (in its warez incarnation) for failing to compile.

@ultrabrutal,

nice reply, got it, pls. don't take anything personal, it's NOT meant that way, was just general feeling.
I recommend to you that you don't use the .bmp's from SubRips output, but let 'em rather OCR to text (I assume you have no 'real' pictures).
If you have SubRip export the text using the Sonic DVD.... format it can be easily converted to an import file for Maestro.
If you really need pictures, it's going to get a bit tricky, because you would need to ensure right position, color mapping and size. I ussually do a test with 1 or 2 subpics only and adjust everything. I posted the complete command language here in the board. You may have found that already.

When it is imported into Maestro and the preview shows it right, then basically there is nothing anymore what could go wrong during compile. Never ever had a hanger during compile since I use 2915a.

Do you know what a successor is ? If not check this out vvv.bcqrnes.bb

Arky. I know it was because of subtitles, because my project worked fine without them. I have new updates for maestro now, haven't tried the old technique I used back then as I was wondering if a better one existed.

Mike. No worries. I'm actually not a newbie. Just don't have so much time these days. I've been doing ripping of dvd since the dawn of blight's program which used powerdvd screen captures. Totalrecorder was used for audio. God it took time back then :)

I thought using the original bmp's in maestro would give then best result when keeping movie size 720x480/576. I know if I was doing 352x480/576 I would need to resize the sub's and that wouldn't work/look good.

I cannot preview in maestro as I don't have decoder card or the correct software.

"If you have SubRip export the text using the Sonic DVD.... format it can be easily converted to an import file for Maestro."
But then maestro would have to render the subpics... I guess it probably did in the first place if the movie was authored with maestro :)

I'll try this out. Thanks for your input guys

Actually u can have preview and simulation with audio in maestro. Just install cinemaster 2000 drivers and there u r.

Works like a charm in a win2k maestro 2912 system.:)

Elsa's download pages doesn't work for me on any of their sites. Strange... Damn, I want to preview now I know it can be done :)

Where to find Cinemaster 2000 or Elsa movieplayer?

I tried subrip'ing the subtitles from Pearl Harbor. Now I remeber why I didn't like OCR. It doesn't work too good :) Pearl Harbor has italic text which the OCR engine messes up. There are no spaces in the final text file. Also I would like the sub's in my rip of the movie to be exact as the original with italic stuff.
So for me it will be better to import the original bmp's from subrip.

UPDATE: got my hands on a copy of both. Cinemaster drivers works great (hope they are not limited to a certain number of runs). Thanks Jeff!

example from my maestro subtitle file:
00:00:58:10,00:01:01:01,ph000001.bmp

when loading this into maestro the subtitle preview shows the name of the bmp file instead of showing the bmp itself. this makes me think that the subrip2maestro program doesn't work for bmp's.

does anyone know how to correct the file so it will load the bmp's. I do not have the hlp file for maestro for some reason so I cannot look here.

tnx

UPDATE! Figured it out myself:

$SetFilePathToken = <<path:>>
00:00:58:10,00:01:01:01,<<path:>>ph000001.bmp

Hi! I know that Gabest is working on ripping the bitmaps directly from the VOB and then generate the .SON file for DVD Maestro (and .SST for Scenarist). I think this feature will be available pretty soon.
