View Full Version : Frequent pauses during playback of DVD-R

I just ripped an animated disney movie using smartripper 2.41 and processed it through ifoedit, got rid of everything I didn't need, created new video_ts and new .vob files and then got vectors. It runs about 4G's total. Right before I burned it, I tested everything through PowerDVD and it played back fine. Used Prassi to test and burn. Now that I have a burned DVD-R, my stand alone player AND my dvd player in my computer play back the burned dvd but they both experience frequent short pauses and every once in a while you will see small groups of colored squares show up on the screen.

How can I avoid this so that it will playback on my stand alone player correctly?

Would it help if I used a different ripper and/or different burner?

sounds like the DVD-R isn't of good quality - at least the same problem occurs with VCDs when you use bad CDRs and/or burn them too fast. However, I don't own a DVD-burner and can only draw the parallel to CDRs...

theReal,
You have a point. The DVD-R's that I have do not have a brand name and were only $3 a piece. I'll try a brand name quality one and see if that works.

Thanks,
