i figure you can get 3 2-disc svcd quality movies on one dvd-r and you can use dvd2svcd to do most of the work for you as long as you dont mind only having stereo audio. using all the normal settings
all you need to change is dont make cd images, dont set any movie offset and then 2 options need to be changed - but i dont know how to do them - i need to turn off the resize filter, and need bbmpeg not to bother splitting the file. the latter can easily be resolved but i dont know how to stop it resizing.??
the resulting mpeg if not resized (you could resixe to 352x480 though) can be burnt onto a dvd-r using ulead dvd movie factory which will let you set chapter points etc.

Hi jaay,

with the resizing, just select "Edit when dvd2avi processing is done" and just delete the "Resize" and the "AddBorder" command from the Avisynth script then hit OK.

But i think you have to raise your bitrate by a good amount for the full resolution encode with CCE to get some visual quality that is comparable to SVCD.

worked perfectly, i made a dvd with 352x288 in mpeg2 VBR avg. 1.15kbs so i got VCD quality and it rocked, i can get like 6 hours on a disc!

Does it play on your Stand Alone DVD Player and if so what brand and model is it?

Thanks,
Mark

also for those interested using dvd2svcd to encode a movie in 352 x 576 pal or 352 x 480 ntsc which is nearly svcd res gives superb results with a av bitrate of 3000 and max of 4000. you can almost not tell the difference on a stanalone on dvd-r. also you can always re-mux the video with 5.1 sound :p but then you cant most dvd authoring packages. you need stereo only sound for the likes of ulead dvd factory. anyway give it a go if you have a dvd burner!
