How to convert DVD to iPhone 5C and extract audio from it?

I cannot help telling you that I just got my blue iPhone 5C. Anyway there is another problem that I need your help. I want to convert some of my DVD movies like Toy Story 3 to my iPhone 5C so that I can watch them when I'm boring outside. Besides, I also want to convert some audio clips of the movie to MP3 format or other else as my iphone ringtone. What is good software you know? Thanks! btw I have upgraded my mac computer to Mountain Lion.

I guess handbrake is available for MacOS also:

The videos I converted to MP4 always worked fine on my IPhone5. As for your ring tone you have to watch which software allows you to "import" any MP3 file to your IPhone.

I tried Handbrake. It works well at the beginning and when the ripping process is finished half, it stoped working. I tried several times. I do not know why. my friend suggestions to try [spam]. no problem. I think it is the one I want.
