Time for a new system:o I don't game and my PC is used as a combo PC/HTPC. The most intense process I do is use BD_Rebuilder. Newegg has this combo on sale for $470:
Intel Core i5 Haswell 3.4GHz Quad-Core CPU + GIGABYTE Z87 MOBO + G.SKILL Ripjaws X 8GB MEM + Kingston 120GB SSD
Been out of the hardware game for a few years and need some help with choosing. Any thoughts and recommendations is really appreciated. :thanks:

look good, however get lot of hard drive space for storage and bd-rb temp work.

Yes, do not do BD_Rebuilding on a 120GB SSD. That is all pretty standard decent modern hardware, not the best of anything but not the worst either. I might go for 2x 8GB DIMMs, instead of 2x 4GBs as I assume that kit is, it shouldn't cost too much and you are much more future proof.
This is what I would pick out if I was building a price conscious but performance oriented i5 non-gaming system with a 120GB SSD:
i5-4670K + Asus Z87-A Combo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1440367&PrimaryItem=N82E16819116899)
Team 2x 8GB DDR3 1600 9-9-9-24 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313288)
OCZ Vector 128GB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227915)
It is quite a bit more expensive than that combo deal though ($630) so that option looks like a good idea if you don't feel the need for close to top of the line. I have not used Team memory before but I have only heard good things about it. You could save some money and get the i5-4670 and an H87 motherboard if you don't plan to overclock. If you do overclock you will want an aftermarket heatsink so that would add more cost.
Non-overclocking system with a cheaper (slower writes) SSD ($570):
i5-4670 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116898)
Asus H87-PRO (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131993)
Team 2x 8GB DDR3 1600 9-9-9-24 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313288)
Samsung 840 EVO 120GB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147247)
Personally I think this system is worth the $100 more than the combo deal but I might be too picky. I also think the 256GB SSDs are a better idea, they are faster and have more nand for wear leveling to work with, but of course they cost a lot more too.
