Does any SBC option make a difference in the first pass, or they should be tampered with only for the second pass?

only in the 2nd pass.. they have no effect for the first pass (assuming you press f8 to make the first pass.. which you should as it ensures that every setting is as it should be for the first pass)

I am using F8, of course. And what are those settings that nandub is enforcing by itself in the first pass?

To add something up: In the gknot guide it is said that for the second pass we should load the default nandub config and to change the bitrate only (according to the calculated stats). But this config seems to be rather - strange. For example, it has keyframe interval set to 9999!? So, my dilemma is, if I change the settings, I will improve the quality, but then the file size would probaly be too big for the given number of cds.

Are those default settings imperative for the gknot to properly work and calculate the bitrate and stuff?

Thanks a lot

The reason why you don't set anything in Nandub when going through GK is that through the edited stats file and the ecf file, GK already sets everything (incl keyframes)
