AVCHD Cameras: checksum possible?

hi, i did a batch to copy AVCHD files to computer, and i was wondering, do cameras generate some type of checksum for the files? so i can verify files integrity.

or perhaps can only be done "post" on copy (do checksum on the cards file, checksum on copied files, compare)

The camera not, but the USB protocol has a built-in CRC-algorithm.

As already mentioned, the copy process already involves error checking/correction algorithms.
If you're really paranoid you could just run "fc/b" from the command prompt to compare the files on the card and your hard drive.

in my batch, i use the "copy" command, but some files had very small corruption in videos. but the backup copy the batch do to another HD, had not.

as i don't know the "source" of the problem (card reader/memory card/HD/copy process) i was wondering this, because i remember the sony program for my camera had a "safe copy" option, witch is supposed to make sure the files are "OK", but there's no mention what kind of verification it does.

if the camera for example, had some checksum for the file, i can make sure the file in the card is OK. if not, lets say, the card is not 100% good, even using sony software with "safe copy" can lead to corrupted videos.

The cause is in your answer.
If you changed something and the problem disappeared, chances are up to 100% that the change caused the problem.

i didn't change anything, the problems still persist. another time, same thing, some videos had corruption, and the same videos on the other drive had not.

You changed the HDD :)
The problem is therefore with your current HDD.
