MulticoreWare is excited to announce the x265 HEVC encoder project, following in the footsteps of the very successful x264 project. Although this effort has been underway behind the scenes for a number of months, it is time to open up the project to the wider open-source developer community. x265 source code is available from https://bitbucket.org/multicoreware/x265 now, under the GPL 2 license. Just follow the easy-to-follow assembly instructions.
We are committed to doing what it takes to make this project successful, and a primary goal of the project is to gain the full support of the open source developer community. We're just getting started, but you can count on the project team to listen to your feedback, and to work hard to make x265 the highest quality, most widely adopted HEVC encoder available anywhere.
