how to check if a video file is completely downloaded?

hi i encounter some situation in which a video is not fully downloaded but it can be played, and they only stop at the end, wmv or mp4 in particular, but the download window might not show that the download is incomplete esp. if the server sends incorrect data.

I would like to know, without having to play the videos, is there any way to see if a video is 100% intact? for example, does an incomplete video show no preview in windows 7 or show no details under properties? Is there anything I can check?
