Delay in a SetTopBox (STB)

Hello,

In a set top box (STB) what is the delay for keeping the sync between audio and video data.?

AFAIK audio data is reached in output buffer early than video data, Does this receiving time varies between PAL/NTSC video ?

Not sure if you're asking what the delay is, or why the option exists...

I use it because I have to direct my audio straight from the STB to my amp, as my TV won't pass-through Dolby Digital to the amp. The sync is required because there's a processing delay while the TV deinterlaces and whatever it has to do (takes about 120ms as far as I can tell).

I can also set the delay on the amp but it's easier on the STB.

Will it possible to down scale the audio data before it direct from STB to Amp?
