View Full Version : MPC and prohibited operations on DVDs

I do all my DVD watching on MPC HC. I'm using DVDFab Passkey, which should get rid of prohibited operations for DVDs. But when I go to play the DVDs, prohibited operations are still there. I seem to remember there was a time, when I was using DVDIdle Pro, that I could pause DVDs during the menu and skip over annoying garbage. Not anymore. I even tried getting DVDIdle again, and it didn't help. Is there any way to get around this? I want to be able to pause or skip whenever I choose, not just whenever the DVD manufacturers decide to let me.

That's just how DVDs work. You would have to alter the DVD navigator filter to make those skippable.

Actually MPC-HC is able to skip commercials and warnings. Even if that's blocked. Navigate->jump to-> and select title.

I looked into that. They say the newest version was 2013-04-26, but that's a lie. They say 0.2.3 is the latest version, but 0.2.4 has been out since 2011. I already have that version, and it doesn't solve the problem. But I ask you, aren't programs like DVDFab Passkey and DVDIdle supposed to solve this problem? If they can do it for other programs, why not MPC? And if a simple program can fix these things, why is there nothing for MPC that can do it?

It's nothing to do with encryption. Even fully decrypted discs will do the same. This is how DVD's are meant to behave, so this is what the DVD navigator does. I recently modified dslibbluray to skip these annoying parts.

I never said anything about encryption. I was under the impression that it was a UOP that removes the option to pause DVDs during the menu.

If you're in the loop, do you know why there hasn't been a new version of dslibdvdnav in 2 years?

I was under the impression that they were driven by passion. They were willing to make the software in the first place, after all.
