MediaCoder - Looking for insight

i have just resurrected an old post from 2011 over on there forum, but i was hoping to get some feedback on something that MediaCoder doesn't do/can't do in regards to ramifications to compression efficiency or video quality.


anyway, MeGUI, Xvid4PSP & Handbrake (many more i suppose too) have this ability to take into account Cropping values before Auto adjusting the height when resizing (Downscaling),

For example, MeGUI doing "Jack Reacher" bluray to Xvid (avi)

obviously MeGUI first crops the film, then auto adjusts the height, the final output was 720x304

now, MediaCoder can only use one of the two features at any time,

so if MediaCoder Crops to fit it doesn't auto adjust the Height value (so it will resize to selected input, closest one is 720x480 ntsc standard) of course one can manually work out the calculation them selves, but as you all know this can get very tedious, especially if doing many projects!!!

or, if MediaCoder doesn't have cropping function on, it will then auto adjust height

i was hoping to get some feedback in what disadvantages or (advantages as the case maybe) can one expect from this differing method.

i don' see how an overview of a program can give me insight into what i asked above?

or am i missing something?
