Greetings.

I'm trying to combine multiple DVDs (mostly English TV series) into single BD for playback on SAP. The first DVD tested was Doctor Who Series 2 Disc 5, PAL, which consists of 3 46min episodes plus a 46min extra. Used multiAVCHD and BD Rebuilder for re-autohring, without much success.

1. multiAVCHD
a. Every episode is duplicated. Need to manually remove the duplicated ones. Is this a DVD problem?
b. The pop-up menu did not work (blanked out). Seems to be a SD specific problem, as pop-up menu works well with HD material. Are there special settings required? Or is there a way to use BDedit to fix this?
c. All the menu clips seems to be authored in 25p instead of 50i. How to get it done correctly?

2. BD Rebuilder v43.06
a. Greeted with the following message. Seems to get stuck at subtitle conversion.

Run-time error '9': Subscript out of range

[23:47:56] Importing DVD: BBCDVD2122
- Importing DVD title [1 of 2]
- Collecting audio/video/subtitle streams...
- Converting subtitles to BD format...

b. Does BD Rebuilder generate a pop-up menu?

3. Is it necessary to split the DVD into individual episodes before BD authoring, and what software to use?

4. Or is it necessary to demux into video/audio/sub/chapters, and what software to use?

5. Any other software that will perform DVD to BD conversion, free or otherwise? With pop-up menu?

Many thanks in advance for your kind assistance.

That's probably your best option. It's quite easy with DVDShrink.

I would concur to this opinion too.
I also did the same thing, in my case the whole MrBean collection that fitted a BD25.
The problems I had were mainly related to subtitles.

There is a free software to convert DVDs to BDs, with some restrictions, as the commercial version costs ~1400$, EasyBD Lite. Which I used to create the individual movies/clips, then reassemble them in multiAVCHD (this way the subtitles stayed correctly, as no tsmuxer was used in the process - tsmuxer apparently has a problem with PAL subtitles).

Thanks for the kind reply Groucho.

1. It seems that DVDShrink is doing the same thing as multiAVCHD, duplicating all the episodes. What's causing this?

This is the disc structure.

episodes 1+2 -- title 3 / vts_02_1.vob to vts_02_4.vob
episode 1 -- title 4
episode 2 -- titel 5
episode 3 --title 6,7 / vts_03_1.vob to vts_03_2.vob
specials -- title 8,9 / vts_04_1.vob to vts_04_2.vob,

3. Can't get the no compression setting to stick. Any idea?
4. Where are chapters and sub information stored?

Thanks and best regards.

1. Deos EasyBD Lite generate pop-up menu?
2. Does pop-up menu work for you with PAL SD material using multiAVCHD?
3. Are the menu m2ts authored in 25p or 50i? Any issue with SAP?
4. Subtitles seems to work well here. No issues with BDSup2Sub nor tsMuxer.

Thanks and best regards.

The presence of multiple titles, of course :).
Important is that you sorted out which is which, and you may continue importing them into multiAVCHD.

An update.

Managed to copy DW series 1 to 4 to 4 discs. Individual episodes are first created using DVDshrink, and loaded into multiAVCHD. Thanks again , Dean.

There's one remaining issue: pop-up menu for 4:3 contents doesn't display. See this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=167767).

Any suggestions?
