Hi there

I have a DVD here which is showing as 4:3 [2] as Aspect Ratio in DGIndex, yet when I save a .dgi file and then subsequently open that in MeGUI, MeGUI tells me the Aspect Ratio is 16:9

What should I go with in terms of encoding, do I trust what DGIndex says or do I go with what MeGUI detects the AR to be?

Thanks.

I would go with what my own eyes tell me - find a scene where some round object is presented (car wheel, wall clock, sun, moon) and you'll know which AR is correct. ;)

I personally would rather trust DGIndex but then again it's very easy to find out if in doubt. Round objects are always easiest but the difference between 4:3 and 16:9 is so big you should be able to tell the difference with other things like people, faces, almost everything immediately. ;)

DGIndex shows the Display Aspect Ratio of The Frame, which includes any black borders.
Presumably, MeGUI has examined the clip and established the active video area to be 16:9.
Assumes that MPEG has letterboxing and that MeGUI outputs video without Letterboxing.
