I was wondering if staxrip, or something else similar can be used to cheaply mux two video streams for making 3D movies, (not just the soundtracks). I have previously used Matroska containers to make normal 2D home videos on a USB memory playable on a HD TV directly, but i've not done any good (successful) major conversions of my videos. Un-synchronised interlaced SD PAL video does not well turn into watchable 3D, (except by using 2 analogue tv's side by side).
If anyone can offer budget oriented suggestions and improvements to cheap dodgy home 3D video setups and processing, please do so, I'm all ears & eyes. I'm looking for small head mountable HD cameras, going into separate recorders, with 30 - 60fps, 720p or 1080p, at least shower / dust proof, if not ~1m or more waterproof.
I've looked at Vio, Rad20 HD, GoPro, & numerous substandard similar units & handycams, but all have disappointed.
Does anyone here know of other small (not Go Pro) POV useable cameras with sync/gen lock available, (and possibly with audio in). I was ready to buy a pair of VIO POV HD's to make 3D HD videos, but knowing about 3D sync problems (or lack of sync / genlock), - I'm still looking for a useful camera, or sync, genlock answer for helmet cams and handicams, as are other budgeting 3D videoers.
Also: can someone invent an induction coil based genlock system to stick to the outside of the waterproof cabinets of hermetically sealed recording units. - A circuit and coil slipped inside cabinet, wired up and sealed; similar coils velcro'd to outside, to sync 2 or more cameras via an oscillator circuit, powered by 12v in a small sealed waterproof box. Just a thought.
I have posted on other forums for similar info, with little result, so I thought the vareity of doom9 people may be able to help. Basicam. :D
