HD video plays slow, sound stutters

After replacing the motherboard in my PC without reinstalling Windows, I have an issue playing HD video. It plays slow, audio tracks seems to be not synced (but they definitely are), sound slutters. I tried to play files in the virtual machine - OK. So it is a software issue. I reinstalled K-Lite Codec Pack, audio drivers, video drivers - no effect. What else can I try? Except reinstalling Windows...

Install the correct motherboard chipset drivers.

Already installed (in fact, no need to reinstall - old mobo was on P945, new one is on P965).

I have deleted K-Lite Codec Pack and customized all things manually: MPC-HC, ffdshow, LAV, madVR, ReClock. Video plays OK now (at least DVD - yes, earlier I wasn't able even to watch a DVD!). But sound still slutters. Both with LAV Audio and ffdshow. I tried to use KernelStreaming with ReClock instead of DirectSound, but it causes a BSOD. Audio "as is" (in foobar2000) plays OK, though, so I really can't understand what causes troubles in the chain "Splitter - Audio decoder - DirectSound - audio driver".

I forgot to say: in TMT all is fine, sound doesn't slutter.

Another thing: sound slutters only during the speech.

In the Windows Device Manager, remove anything remotely sound related. Reboot, and let Windows detect the correct hardware for your current motherboard. If it doesn't help, then repeat with other devices, such as PCI bus stuff.

I'm not quite sure. As I wrote above, after recustomizing (which includes Resize and aspect filter enabling) video first seemed to play fine while sound slutters. But later (in 1-2 min) video started sluttering, too (dropped frames), and CPU gets overload. If I turn off Resize and aspect filter the issue is gone, as well as sound sluttering. So I believe the reason is my weak C2D E6400 CPU overclocked to 3,33 MHz (though I still can't believe it's weak enough!).
But to know for sure I need to test different video formats. And maybe make clean Windows installation on a separate HDD.

Sounds like your system may be overheating. Try cleaning out all dust bunnies and reseating all cards securely...

Well, I was able to play DVDs almost fluently with a Pentium I MMX 200MHz (0.2GHz) in 1997.

Definitely your system is awfully badly configured.

Ghitulescu, I am able to play DVDs now - without ffdshow's postprocessing.

I figured out why sound slutters during the speech. The reason is external subtitles loaded with MPC-HC internal subtitles renderer (the same thing with MPC-HC 1.7.0). No such issue while loading with VSFilter.
