It's 00014.M2TS has scan type Interlaced (top field first), not progressive like most M2TSs.
So when I try to encode it to x264 in the usual way I get weird results, the file is the right length but clearly plays much too fast. In fact I can see the end-credits about half way through, then the movie continues on from some unknown point, before finally show the end-credits, this time at the end, again.
Your help please

So when I try to encode it to x264 in the usual way Tell us what that "usual way" is. How did you rip it, how did you encode it, how did you play it?

Rip with AnyDVD.
I use TMPGenc 4 and x264vfw to encode and while this will probably bring frowns, I have good success with it - have ripped many BDs like this with no prob.
Play with ZoomPlayer as usual.

Found the problem.
I used an avisynth frameserver as source, which results in an anomalous framerate 108.66 fps even if type is changed to Interlaced with correct field order.
If the raw M2TS is used directly as source, frame rate (25.000 fps) and scan type (Interlaced TFF) are correctly detected by TMPGEncXP and a good encode results.
So now u know...
