Hi,

I used anyDVD to rip the Jap and UK versions of Reservoir Dogs to my HDD. I want to put the Jap main video file into the UK image.

The UK disc has the extras I want, but the Jap one's main movie has much better encoding. So I want to combine the two.

Is this possible? How can I do it?

thanks!

:)

In theory, if you know exactly which PlayList and Stream the movie is on both discs, you can just swap them out. If you are lucky, they will even be the same numbers... If not, you will need to rename the PlayList # of the Jap disc to match the PlayList # of the UK disc. Keep in mind, you might get weird results when selecting subtitles/audio tracks though as the Japanese disc probably has different subs than the UK disc... But if you are playing it in English with no subs, you should be fine.

If the Stream numbers are different between the discs, and the movie stream from the Jap disc would over-write a file on the UK disc, you will need to renumber those as well, and edit the PlayList file to point to the new stream. (And it gets a little more complicated if the movie is more than one Stream...)

If you plan to burn it back to a disc, you will also want to make sure it will fit... It's possible that the Japanese version is a higher bitrate (thus, a larger file), and it won't fit on the UK disc with all of the extras included there... If there's audio commentaries on the UK that aren't on the Japanese, you will loose those as well, unless you want to start demuxing/remuxing the streams.

multiAVCHD does not seem to allow video track substitution, so you'll nee to do it manually.

Follow the guidelines in this thread. Certain steps will need to be modified.

Demux the desired video stream from your japanese BD. (tsMuxeR)
Use BD-Rebuilder with the UK release.
After BD-RB demuxed the main stream to it's WORKFILES folder you can stop and replace the video stream.
Then go on with BD-Rebuilder.

@bubbleboy11

1. Rename Jap main movie *.m2ts to match that of UK's.
2. Rename Jap main movie's clip info to match that of UK's.
3. Copy #1 to UK's Stream folder, replace UK's .m2ts file.
4. Copy #2 to UK's clip info folder (and backup's clip info folder as well).
5. Use BdEdit open the UK BD folder (with Jap m2ts file).
6. Go to the playlist for the main title.
7. Use BdEdit (Open another BdEdit) open the Jap BD folder (original folder).
8. Go to the playlist for Jap main title.
9. update the playlist in #6 to that of #8.
10. Enjoy.
