I am currently looking at encoding my Blu-ray and DVD disks to MP4 video format for archiving. I would like to have the video format compatible over all formats including Apple TV products (hence not converting to MKV).
I have been experimenting with Handbrake and I have come up with the following requirements:
1) 720p for Blu-ray and 720X480 for DVD.
2) DD 5.1 at 448 or 640 bitrate for 1st audio track (converted from DTS or DD HD or otherwise).
3) DD 2.0 at 192 bitrate for 2nd audio track.
4) English subtitles for English movies with foreign language that needs translation (ie Jabba the Hut in Return of the Jedi). Preferred to have hardcoded.
File size is not a concern but would like to have within 2-3 gig. Encode speed as low as possible given my current hardware. I have a AMD Phenom II X3 72 2.8 GHz. A Blu-ray encode with the above specs takes about 8 hours in Handbrake. A DVD takes about 4 hours in Handbrake.
Is there a setting in BD-Rebuilder that can handle the above requirements? If so, I would appreciate some instruction on how to set them. If not, (this goes to jdobbs), can the specs be added to BD-Rebuilder? Can you name the new setting after me?! HA! Just kidding!
Thanks for any help or advice anyone may have.
