Hi sorry for the large header.
I'm currently working for a large broadband project wich is based on getting fiber out to the end customer.(fiber to the home)
Every customer has a IP-based STB which has a Sigma Designs 8400 chipset that can demux & decode both transport streams and program streams.
Our content providers give us the movies we're gonna provide for our customers in Digibeta and DVD format. We have been given permission to use whatever means of getting these formats over to something we can use on our VIDEOSERVERS.
Mpeg2 PS 6mbit/s 1 Sequence Header pr GOP, CBR (constant bit rate) and .ac3 sound stream. In addition i need the subtitles for our language inserted in each frame in the videostream (like DVDx can do)
So heres my question:
Can anyone of u give me some examples on how i can achieve this with using the apps u guys use these days. Ive tested DVDx, XMpeg 4.2.a, Dvd2avi and so on. Making divx are easy, but transcoding from VBR to cbr and keep the .ac3 sound i have trouble with.
Ive tried using DVDx or XMpeg 4.2.a and frameserve via Video Server Plugin v.93 into CCE 2.64. It crashes everytime and i dont know how to pass on the .ac3 file and multiplex it into the resulting .mpg file.
I cant find any guides on ppl using XMpeg to serve CCE either so i'm sorta stuck here, in addition to the crashes bit dvdx and xmpeg has.
I need to find a fast and pretty automatic process here since if i can get this to work, we'll be transcoding 50 films a month this way. I have the means to buy whatever hardware and software to do this. Both commercially and opensource (sponsor development)
Currently i'm using a Dual Athlon 1900mb for testing purposes. Any estimate on how long such a process would take on one movie on a given process?
Anyway, i hope i can get some good input.
