First time user of "Alternate Movie-Only Output" DVD-9, 720x480/576, AC3 Audio.
Source is a Blu-ray VC-1 1080p/23.976 fps.
Output gets only 5,43 GB.
Can't figure out how to get output close to 7,95 GB?
Is it possible to get a larger DVD-9 output?
regards

Probably not since there is a max bitrate for dvd. So if this movie length is 2 hours or less, it is encoded at the max allowable bitrate and the file size cannot be increased.
Check your log file, and it will tell you the bitrate that the file was encoded. ( probably about 8550kbps depending on audio bitrate )

Thanks for replying! :)
Ahh... DVD specs and bitrates, didn't know much about that, until know.
You are right, video bitrates were around 8550kbps, audio AC3 192 kbps.
Blu-ray source is Baraka and Samsara with high bitrates, Samsara is around 48 mbps, and they both did suffer a lot from encoding to DVD.
Wanted to show them to a friend with an old Sony DVD player and an old Sony 32" widescreen fat TV at their house.
Have to convince him now to jump on the Blu-ray and HD train!
On my set, Oppo BDP-93 and an Panasonic 55" plasma, Samsara is jaw-dropping!
