FFDShow and libmpeg2

Why there's no more libmpeg2 in newer ffdshow tryouts, only libavcodec? Libavcodec does not work for me with DVD's. I use MPC-HC with madVR and ReClock. All latest stable versions.

It was removed because it was considered as unneeded and to attract bug reports for libavcodec. If you can be a bit more specific about what happens on your computer with libavcodec, then maybe I can help you.

well the dvd does not open and wont respond, when i open it from MPC-HC.

Hmm. it's strange that if i choose libavcodec on older version of ffdshow, libavcodec works fine. But not with the latest version where libav is the only option.

hmm. just installed that and there's NO libmpeg2.

Aaah, did not know about the stable :angry::( version.
Will stick with 4499 for a while.
Cause i use libmpeg2 too.
libavcodec gave me blocking on m2v files at start and seeking in the past.
Dont know if this is solved, will try libavcodec later.

And yes, libmpeg2 is showing up at the codecs page :D
Maybe clsid can give some insight on this.
It is even mentioned on the "About/Version details" page.

It seems libmpeg2_ff.dll (http://www.mediafire.com/file/fd660altfj9sl8r/libmpeg2_ff-ffdshow-r4430.rar) doesn't ship with recent ffdshow builds anymore, but you can simply add it manually to your ffdshow install folder, i.e. where your "ffdshow.ax" is located.

(Last build I found which includes the file appears to be around r4430)

Yes, this is what I found out a few hours ago.
I must be a leftover from a former install and because I had never cleared the program folder between install attempts
it resides there happily ever after.
Good to know one can easily trick ffdshow to use an outdated decoder :D
edit: and yes the version you shared is the same I'm using.

You can also switch to LAV Video. Its DVD support is much better than ffdshow, IMHO.

BUt i want to use ffdshows Sharpen techniques. 'Unsharp mask' really does wonders to older low quality dvds.

You don't need ffdshow decoder to do that. You can use "ffdshow raw video filter" to do post-processing.

For followers, in case anybody minds, it appaers that recent versions of ffdshow tryouts do contain libmpeg2_ff.dll (again) FWIW.
