Hi there,
I've been using virtualdub to capture and compress VHS now for about 2 years. And I've done about 300 VHSs of a 600 library. The guide was incredibly helpful in setting everything up. And I was able to create a nearly automated system where I could capture while at work and compress while asleep. (Many many thanks to the authors of that guide!)
After all this time without trouble, the program began to get more and more glitchy. From jumpy capture and display of video, to loading up and not remembering my settings to crashing and freezing my whole PC. The computer has never been connected to the web so it's not a virus. It was however shutdown in the middle of a capture by a power outage one day around that time the problems began to creep in.
Is it possible that this interferred with the hardware or software and caused the problem? Any ideas on how I could fix this and get back to converting the archive?
