Hey
I'm having a weird problem with playing video, I would really appreciate some help!
setup:
Software: MPC-HC+Madvr+LAV
Hardware: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 2GB, 16GB RAM, i7 3720qm
Primary display: laptop 60Hz 1600x900
Second. display: 1080p23
chroma upscaling and image upscaling:
spline 3 taps + anti-ringing filter

I can't take a screenshot that containts madvr's OSD for some reason.
display 23.97266Hz
movie 23.810fps
Average stats:
rendering: 5 ms - 10 ms
present: 3 ms - 5 ms
Max stats:
rendering: 8 ms - 12 ms
present: 5 ms - 8 ms
decoder queue: 23-24/24
upload queue: 23-24/24
render queue: 23-24/24
backbuffer queue: 7-8/8
Problem:
I mostly watch anime, but I still get dropped frames from time to time for some reason, and the present interval fluctuates to around 100 ms around some points.
note: tested with only secondary display with same results.

Did you also test automatic fullscreen exclusive mode? It's usually recommended if you experience any kind of problem with the windowed mode.

How about the following changes step by step to investigate what is the root cause?
1. Any background process running with random high CPU loading?
2. Promote player process' priority with higher one.
3. Change all flushing settings to "Don't Flush"
4. Reduce queue depth to default value.
5. Powerplan option to "High Performance"

Yes I have. Didn't really make a difference

1. No there isn't.
2. Will try but I don't think it'll change anything.
3. Tried that, no difference.
4. Tried, no difference.
5. Already set.
The weired thing is that the load on my GPU is ~20-30% only and changing the scaling algorithm to the fastest one didn't solve the problem so I'm not sure what to do!

Please set all settings back to default first. And try again.
for instance 24 for the CPU/decoding/render queue is overdone afaik.

If you watch anime, try disabling the subtitles and see if the problem is still there. If there's animation in the subtitles, it can use a lot of CPU.
If that's it, try xy-vsfilter. It may not yet be able to use subtitle at the same resolution as the video, but it's a lot faster.
If that's not it, try with EVR to see if the problem really is with madvr.

I just did a complete reset and re-install of all components (mpc-hc, LAV, madVR) and set high priority, same problem presists.

It happens even with hardsubs so I don't think that's the problem. How can I see statistics when I use EVR?

As far as I know, it's a madvr feature only, so you have to watch for the dropped frames.

I have the feeling this post point to you problem. You can set madVR as filter in the external filters page. But if you use madVR, you choose madVR in as renderer (directshow video) in MPC-HT -> output not EVR, it doesnt apply cause madVR is a renderer, not a filter. Also set madVR so it doesnt do decoding, you use LAV for that.
Also, i've has stuttering frames when i set the wrong audiorenderer or decoder by mistake (you see something of a transformfilter <-> AVI or something it was called afaik) Make sure that's not your problem.

Oh no I'm not adding it as a filter on external filters. The only ones there are LAV Audio Decoder, LAV Video Decoder, and LAV splitter. All source filters and transform filters are disabled so is the decoding and deinterlacing by madVR as it's performed by LAV.
on Output, I choose madVR in Directshow, and System default as Audio Renderer (Tried Reclock, nothing different).
I displayed the stats in EVR and saw that there is a graph of two lines (green and red), and that the green one jagges at the point where frames are dropped, and stays flat otherwise.
I'll upload a clip of the video for someone willing to test and see if it's the videos fault:)

Oh crap. I just realized it's VFR videos that cause this issue to me. I don't really have it on all videos, just some. And after checking a few of them, they probably are all VFR. Is there anyway to solve this issue? I'm considering re-encoding but that would take a lot of time :(

My TV's refresh rate is 120Hz and I was able to output a 120Hz signal to solve the problem because all my VFRs are combination of 29.97 and 23.976 for some reason. However, I can only output 720p 120Hz and the TV doesn't recognize the signal when I try 1080p 120Hz for some reason (I have 1.4a HDMI cable and I'm using a MDP port+adapter). My question is, if the video I'm playing is 720p, does the PQ differs between choosing 1080p or 720p on the TV? I'm sorry if it's a stupid question but I'm debating whether to live with the judder with 1080p23 or go judder free but different PQ (?) 720p120.
