View Full Version : MPC-HC - Alt + Tabbing without leaving fullscreen?

Hey guys,
I'm fairly new to this whole "video" topic.
I recently switched from vlc to the mpc-hc and I'm pretty impressed.
There are only two things that are really bugging me:

1. If I downscale the player window, it doesn't downscale the whole video but does some wierd zooming effect. I want it to downscale like vlc, and wmp do.

2. Everytime I Alt + Tab out of the video (to look up a word in a dictionary for example) I have to re-enter the fullscreen mode. This wasn't the case when using vlc

Does anyone know how to fix these "problems"?

P.S.: I'm using madvr, if that helps

Change the "video frame" option under the view menu. Change it to another option that matches what you want it to do.

It stays full screen when I alt-tab out and back in.

Ah thanks I'm using "Touch Window From Inside" instead of "Stretch To Window" now. Works like a charm!

Does anybody else know how the fix the alt + tab thing?

View->On Top should help ;)

When I activate on top I can't alt tab anymore :(

For some reason, alt-shift-tab works when the view is on top, but alt-tab doesn't work. Does this happen for others? I've searched around and the only obvious solution is an autohotkey script.

More importantly, is there a way to retain fullscreen without forcing the window on-top, without the aid of an AHK script?

I know Zoom Player works that way, you can alt-tab without changing full screen.

Most likely this is both a function of the player and the renderer being used. For example, in madVR Fullscreen Exclusive mode, alt-tab does nothing, while on several of the others I tried (with MPC-HC), it exits fullscreen mode. Maybe there is a setting buired down somewhere that can change that behavior, but I couldn't find one at first glance.

True, alt-tab also does nothing in Zoom Player if madVR is in Full Screen Exclusive.
