Hello, I just bought The Panasonic LF-D311SC ($300) and I need to know which DVD-R is the best for this drive. Also what is the best UDF? 1.02? 1.5? 2.0? 2.01?. FOR HOME PLAYER AND PC PLAYERS?? I try to use Nero but it keeps locking up. I have used RecordNow MAX 3.01 and after about 350 MB the writer stops. What is wrong? Also I used InstantCD+DVD and that worked for a DVD-RAM!! But, when I try to burn a DVD-R the last 3 mins I got an error. PLEASE HELP!!!!
THANK YOU!!!

DOOM9 AND DERROW ARE COOL!!!!!!

Hi,
Dont know if this helps but I use the Primo DVd writer which came with the drive and it burns discs which can be read in set-top boxs fine.
I did try Nero and it completed the burn but the disc would only read in a PC NOT a set-top.
As far as discs go I use the Data Safe media and they are fine. I am sending for some of the princo to try them out (a lot cheaper).

Cheers
Kevin

i have the "rambo" drive also.
i've used cd-recordable.com and meritline.com discs (double-sided dvd-r's!) and they both work fine. that is a great drive.

only drawback is that it doesn't do dvd-rw (found that out AFTER i bought it) so i couldn't test discs before permanent burn. got a pioneer a03 at a great bargin.

How good was this bargain and where did you find it?

do a pricewatch.com search for "pioneer a03".
got mine for $350 delivered.
don't rememer where.

i have both burners on external firewire boxes. the panasonic rips about twice as fast, but the ao3 burns twice as fast.
