Warning!! Ulead Video Facotry & Picture Show!

Both of these programs can cause Windows XP to loose Internet Connection Firewall, Internet Connection Sharing, AND Disable System Restore!!!! This is a Known problem to them, but ONLY if you call them will they admit it! You will not know your Firewall is down, until you goto connection properties and sure enough no firewall! I noticed this happening when all of my lan computers lost their connection after restarting the host computer which just had picture show installed. When i went to connection properties i saw my firewall and ICS were both down, and COULD NOT BRING THEM BACK UP! I thought i had a virus, because when i went to do a restore there was a DLL file missing! Well 3 days and 15 phone calls later i found out that INDEED Picture show AND Ulead Video factory inadvertently disable these things in Windows XP!!!!

PS these things will not go into affect until you have restarted the computer after install.

One more reason not to upgrade my windows 2000 profeesional...

You should have system restore disabled anyway. It doesn't work like it should. Buy Norton Ghost or Roxio Go Back if you want real protection. Also I would recommend a good Cable/DSL router instead of ICS, unless you like to portmap. I was never able to get file sharing applications to work correctly with ICS installed. As for ICFirewall, I thing MS should be sued for calling this a firewall. If you think ICFirewall works go here http://grc.com/lt/leaktest.htm.

Is Microsoft really to blame for this bug? These software developers (for pay ware) need to spend some more time testing their software on different platforms, and inform the consumer when their system is in danger. Not to say MS is not to blame on other points, but this bug doesn't seem like it's really their fault.
