Before I read enough information about the ripping process I ripped a bunch of dvd with smartripper, most worked fine. However, i have since learned about dvd's such as the matrix which need to be ripped differntly!
Now that I have the vob files on my hard drive (and not the dvd disc anymore) is there a method to extract the right movie(s) from the vob files, perhaps by cahpter or somthing similar?.

as usual... vstrip will do the trick IF you have the IFO file...
and... are you implying you're going to make an ILLEGAL copy? :devil:

an illegal copy, certainly not. I... er leant it to my brother in law.
Thanks for the info, it worked well. I followed the guides (especially useful as it was the same movie) and also tried ripping the other little tracks, can't say I noted much differnec, maybe I should study more. I also struggled to understand the method of determining the correct moive, still I happy with the one I've got.
How does the white rabbit one differ?
One thing I did note was my PAL version had diffrent numbers in the cells, movie lenght etc in some tracks, must be a slight differnec between the NTSC and PAL version?

NTSC matrix ~30 fps w/ 3:2 pulldown -> 24fps
PAL matrix 25 fps (i.e. runs slightly faster -> has been sped up)
