View Full Version : About UOPs and CMF exporting

I am sorry for all the questions lately...
I am about to finish my 1st commercial BD which will go for replication and I want to ask a couple of things. (among others!)
1. What UOPs should I eneble-disable in Feature, extras and the TopMenu?
Is there something specific that should not be enabled or disabled?
2. Any tips regarding the CMF exporting would be great.
What concearns me most is the settings regarding the AACS.
The spec version should be 0.95 or 0.92?
Anything else I should check for except the defaults?
Thank you and sorry for all the questions.

Basically, in the MUX window, Image processing, BDCMF Settings,
in the Content protection, should I change anything?
The SRM-DTCP and SRM-HDCP are both to NONE.
What I need is to create the correct image and the replication factory would enter the AACS, right?

As a general rule, you don't want that a user change the audio/subtitles on the TopMenu with the remote, because it will also change the audio of the feature (the stream change is immediately and take place inside the TopMenu). Probably you would also not allow a user to jump (always via remote) to a user-defined title. So on the Title, the TitleJump will probably need Prohibited, and OUP of previous/next chapter, fast forward/rewind, specific time jump and so on would probably disabled.
Regarding CMF, you need to ask also the replicator. Every replicator have its own specs (about the AACS version). The Content Protection is general left as is. Currently I work with a replicator that still wants version 0.92 (which require even less manual settings). If you replicate, remember to do the Auto-Layout also even for BD25 discs.

Hi,
I use the 5.3.2 version and in Disc Layout --> Disc Settings, it says "Layout Disc".
I am guessing that is the same as Auto Layout?
And again, in the UO Mask, I do not have a TitleJump option. Under the Title I only have Resume and Stop as options.
Check the image. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/827/uomask.jpg/
Am I missing something???

For UOPs, here's good starting points:
Top Menu, and other menus:
0x3cb805ff40000000
Feature with no PIPs or Angles:
0x0004010f40000000
(If you only have one audio or no subtitles, you can lock out surfing of those...)
For VAM with no subtitles or extra audio tracks, or a Pop-Up menu:
0x0007fdff40000000
(If you have a Pop-Up on your VAM, you'll want to check all the options in the bottom box of the UOP editor.)
Title Search and Menu Call UOPs are locked out in the Scenario editor are the Movie Object Level
Menu Call Mask: Setting to Prohibited will prevent the Title Menu call from be activated. You should lock this out on all menu titles
Title Search Mask can usually be locked out throughout the project, unless you want to allow this function. This allows a person to jump to, say, Title #2 by entering Title #2 on their remote rather than selecting 'Trailer' (or whatever Title #2 is) from the menu options... If you don't lock it, just make sure your programming still works as expected...
This needs to be locked (or unlocked) on _every_ Title.
To make a CMF:
Go into CPS editor, make sure everything in the CPS Unit List is Encrypted
Spec Version probably doesn't matter, but I think I always used the latest if you can.
Uncheck Enable Bus Encryption if you use 0.95
Under managed copy, put in an ISAN if you have it, if not use:
0000 0000 0000 0000 9 0000 0000 A
Just to shut up Scenarist about it...
All other settings should be left alone.
Go into Disc Layout, click 'Layout Disc' at the bottom of the first tab. Hopefully you get 'Succeeded!'.
Give Volume Label the title of the project.
Click OK
Click on Mux:
Check Mux Processing, Full Mux (or Partial Mux) and BDROM
Check Image Processing, give it a directory, check BDCMF (to increase speed, this should be a drive OTHER than the one in 'Disc Root Path' above)
Click Settings:
General:
BDCMF 1.10
Master ID: Some unique ID, usually a project number from the client or something... But it can be anything
General(Extension):
Revision: 1
Disc Number: 1
Distributor: The studio or company selling the disc
Content Owner: The studio or company that actually made the content.
others are optional
Disc Info:
Defaults are fine
Title Info:
Title Name: Title of the movie/project
CopyrightNotice: I usually just put the year the movie was made.
Region A-C should all be allowed unless you are specifically programming otherwise (you have to actually program region checks though, this setting really does nothing).
BD-Live and BD-J should be None unless you know you are including one or both of them.
Content Protection:
Defaults are fine
Process History: (This is optional stuff, but Scenarist may ask that they be filled in, and helps the replicator know where the disc came from)
Facility Name: You or your Company
Location: City you are in
WorkID: (I think I've always left this blank)
Operator: You
(All of that info above (like content owner distributor, copyright notice, etc is just info for the replicator. It won't appear _on_ the disc anywhere, so you don't have to contact your client to verify it or anything... Just use what you think is correct, it'll be good enough.)
Click OK, you are done with this.
Back in Mux Configuration, check Premastering
Target: CMF
Path: Pick a directory (for speed, choose a drive OTHER than the one used for 'Image Processing', and remember where it is, this is what you are sending to the replicator)
CMF Server: localhost
Before you hit Mux Start, find two programs in the Sonic folders (might be icons on your desktop):
Mux Remoting Server
CMF Remoting Server
Open both of these programs. Once you see them, hit Mux Start and wait...
(Opening these in advance prevents Scenarist from giving you a 'the server actively refused connection' error if they don't open fast enough when the system needs them...)
Now, when this is all done, look in your CMF folder. You should see another folder called 'Dst0' that contains these files:
BDCMF.CMF
BDCMF.SHA
FAI.DAT
PACL0.DAT
PIC.DAT
UCD.DAT
UD.DAT
These are the _ONLY_ files you send to the replicator (everything in that folder, if you are doing a dual-layer disc, I think there's one more file, PACL1.DAT probably. Point is, only send the 7 or 8 files in the Dst0 folder). Do not send all the other files like DLDefinition.xml, and stuff in the CMF root folder...
The replicator gets a completely blank hard drive, with one folder on it. In that folder, the 7 (or 8) files listed above.
(Unless the _specifically_ tell you they need some other file, but I've never been told to include anything else.)
The one folder should be renamed to something that clearly identifies the drive's contents as the disc you are making. Preferably a SKU/Product number from your client that the replicator also knows, but a very wordy title is fine.
Don't just say 'The Matrix', It should be 'The Matrix_Blu-ray_25GB_BD01' or something (BD01 being a code used to indicate a North American disc to Warner Brothers). If your client doesn't have that much info, then at least the title, blu-ray and size of the disc image.
That should get you a CMF that will work with no issues... :)
Also, keep in mind each step will use up as much space as your final disc image. If you have a 25GB disc, 'MUX Processing' will create a 25GB BDMV folder. 'Image Processing' will create a 25GB Disc Image and 'Premastering' will create a 25GB CMF master. 75GB of hard drive space, not counting the 25GB you are already using for your assets...

Thank you both very much for all the info!!!
rik, I already followed your path to CMF creation and send the files to replication.
Again, Thanks!

Hi,
one more last general question,
My company, as an Authoring house, should we have some kind of an ID regarding the AACS?
Isn't the replication facility importing that ID?
Thanks,

Got it!
Nothing is required.
Thank you all!!!
