I wondered if anyone else has the same problem as me?

How is it possible to get optimum picture quality for SD, HD and Online Video?

I'm using Mad VR and Lav, which is great for HD, providing I keep my Catalyst Control Center video settings all "off".

For SD Television recordings, I can also use Lav and Mad VR, but they look at loot better with denoise and deblocking enabled in CCC (which i have to disable for HD to look good).

Then there is online video, which I find needs a lot more post processing in the CCC settings than even SD recordings.

Please, please can someone tell me how they have a perfect set up for all?

I tried for a while using software decoding for HD, but it seems even if I use software decoding the picture quality adjustments in the CCC take effect.

I decided I liked the noise/blocks better than the look after the drivers attack it.

This is probably a bit of sour grapes, I used to tweak post processing a lot back in the early Xvid days, but now, with most of my video being good quality and the settings being global, I just leave PP off all the time.

I don't think there is any way to setup "profiles" for playing back different types of content. It would be interesting if the video drivers did a resolution detection or something to allow multiple settings but I wouldn't hold my breath.

The best solution I have come up with so far is to use Arcsoft TMT and SimHD to post process my SD content. It also means I have to convert any recordings i make in .wtv format to a compatible container. However this still leaves online video untouched, since I need to leave Post Processing off for HD playback.

I know with ffdshow you can base post processing settings upon resolution, would be great to see this option in Madvr/Lav, or even just a switch to turn on and off.

I do know both nevcairiel and madshi have stated they will not add any more PP options.

I personally was vastly unimpressed by SimHD and I would bet that some of those scripts (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=157634) might suit you better.

FWIW, several media players(such as PotPlayer) will allow you to make automatic rules based on movie dimensions and frame rate so you can use whatever combination of PS scripts you like. Also, ffdshow is processed in 8bit so it might be wiser to use PS scripts that are processed in a much higher resolution in mVR and only dithered to 8bit at the very last stage ;)
