Can someone recommend a screen capture app?

Any good freeware for creating "How-to" video tutorials, like those seen on YouTube, where the activity on your PC screen as well as narration is recorded (zoom in, etc.), or should I invest in an app like Snagit?

Does Wink include audio, or must one add the audio to the video after recording, say, a tutorial?

Yes, it can record the audio. Though personally I never used that feature. I cannot say how well it works...

I downloaded and installed Wink. After starting tutorial 1, I found myself needing to firstly read the manual, since no ballons appear when you hover over a control. Maybe I need to be more patient. But I'll give 'er a go. Thanks mate.

As an alternative you can also try Windows Media Encoder. It's surprisingly configurable. It records audio from the default audio device.

Blueberry Flashback, free version. Amazingly good and you can install, for example, the xvid package to get another output target. I'm guessing it installs Directshow? filters or something? I don't know the terminology...

Blueberry flashback express for me. Works perfectly, records video and audio, whole screen, region of screen or window. Exports to avi or flash. I use it a lot, it's never failed me. Also its free.
