DVD Decrypter

I use this program to decrypt my normal DVDs and then convert them to x264 with Handbrake. Im very happy with it,.

Does it work fine with all DVDs, including bluray?
What do you think of that application?
Should I get a new updated one?

Hi!

1) Although DVD Decrypter can still rip many discs with simpler/older copy protection schemes, it is VERY much outdated

2) No, DVD Decrypter cannot rip Blu-ray discs

Ok I appreciate your response. I will take some time to search for a good updated app. I want it to be simple and beautiful interface as DVD decrypter was.

Try makemkv (http://makemkv.com/). It decrypts DVDs and Blu-Rays losslessly to mkv files which can be easily converted by most programs. It is free for DVDs and free for Blu-Rays in the beta phase. (It has been in the beta phase for a very long time now).

Actually its 21days but from my personal experience dvdfab isn't nearly as good as anydvd when it comes to decrypting discs, supporting the latest disc (anydvd more than dvdfab) supports em before the street date, anydvd doesn't use stolen code. Dvdfab is like Nero, bloatware.

I'd take anydvd any day.

For ripping Blurays and DVD mainly three tools come to my mind !

Didn't test DVDs, so I can not comment on this. I got mixed results with BDs. Most of them work fine while others simply made MakeMKV "die" or increase the ripp time incredibly. May be you have better results with your BD drive than my LG external BD burner. Folks over at the MakeMKV forum claim that my disks are either defect or dirty. Neither of this is true and AnyDVD HD ripped them all without hickups (see below).

IMO the best ripper ever. Works flawlessly both on DVD and BDs. Even those which made MakeMKV "die" or caused up to 4 hours rip tme, where dumped to HDD by AnyDVD HD in one hour without hickups.

Is free, almost instantly is able to rip new DVDs after release. Gets contiously update. They are using "stolen" code though.

Worked fine for me on most BDs I tested. Newer BDs might take a bit longer time to be supported compared to AnyDVD HD.

Unfortunately there is no "optimal" tool ;)

DVDFab betas are fast enough to deal with new protections. And what's this about "stolen code"?

@Chetwood: From my experiences with brand new DVDs AnyDVD is always a tad faster than DVDFab. Their benefit is though that DVD ripping is freely available.

FYI: I ripped the BD of Dylan Dog two weeks ago without issues with AnyDVD.

YMMV....I am not that much into ripping this time anyway since I grab most of my stuff from HD satellite streams.

5. DVDFab has stolen a lot of our code, e.g. the code to remove region code and BD+ firmware warnings is bit by bit identical to ours. And yes, we were first.

6. DVDFab has stolen a lot of open source code and is violating open source licenses.
