Could someone explain me the parameters-(as to what they do)(smode,smethod,skernel...) of lsfmod and also what values should i set these to for BD-encodes?

They're explained in the first part of the script.

Unless there's something specifically wrong with your material, you should manage with all default values, i.e. LSFmod(). If that sharpens too much, lower the strength a little (default 100).

http://www.animepassion.net/index.php?/topic/2029-finesharp/ --- I used it, but it results in haloing around the edges

Are your sharpening cartoon? Then give fastlinedarkenmod a try.

In that case, MSharpen() may also be worth a look.

I wish i had an in-depth knowledge on the working of these filters and yeah i'll take a look into msharpen().

Should i supersample the source and then apply the sharpener?

lsfmod do that by default with ss_x though not by much (1.25x iirc), try using defaults="slow".
