View Full Version : A VDshader problem

Hi everybody,
A good buddy, working to transfer old films, knows a weird problem with VirtualDub (v.1.9.11):
When using VDshader filter (v.1.2) to improve faded colours, he obtains a result in the preview window, and he can read the corrected clip by File/"Preview filtered..." OK.
But when trying to "Save as AVI...", he sees the window about processing, very briefly, then VirtualDub vanishes promptly, without an error message, neither crashinfo.txt, nothing.- And no more in the Windows Events Log.
That happens with VDshader only. Other sessions using other filters run OK, and he can then "Save as AVI...".

Others, like myself, were not able to have the same behaviour on our system.

Thank you for any help.

If I remember correctly you can find version 1.4 in the official Virtualdub forums. Perhaps that fixes your problem.

Thank you Rumbah for your prompt answer.
But "v.1.4-test2" was tried too, unsuccessfull.
I saw your posts about VDshader on the other forum, where I'll ask the question too...

if you want to fix faded colors i'm not sure it's the right filter, instead try colormill, RGB equalizer and gradation curves filters

Thank you, Mounir !
In fact, I only relay the problem of another.
But I didn't know ColorMill. I just copied the v.2.1 and tried it quickly: the filter seems very interesting, and has a pleasant interface.

EDIT:
ColorMill is really a good filter... so that our guy will use it !
Thanks again.

BTW, A. Lee gives the links to his last VDshader v.1.4 (December 16, 2012). Maybe the same as v.1.4-test2 (June 9, 2012), but "changes.txt" is updated:
