Hello,

You closed my thread (My x264 (resize) settings. Improvements?? Anyone??? )based on rule 6 (illegally obtained copyrighted content).

I must desagree as I have the actual discs! Just not the means to read them on my PC.

It's not illegal to get a file (backup) of a content that you actually own (preventing damage to it and making it playable on other devices I own as well).

In no way you can tell from my posts that I don't have the discs.

Here: «Right now I can't access m2ts (BD structure) because I don't have a computer bluray. Currently I have an LG 3D Bluray, living room type. I am saving for a new computer Ci7 based so now I don't really want to spend €100+ on a PC BD player/recorder.
Thus I am fetching the files from the net instead and learning in the process until I master it and get a BD for PC. »

...which will happen after I buy my new PC!

The right way to read this should be: I don't have a chance to access my discs content right now so I have to get them elsewhere. If I own a copy I have the right to make a backup.

It's the same as using a friends computer with BD reader to download (transfer) the files to an external harddrive (but I don't have a friend with one).

So, please, unlock the thread and let me get some advice that might be usefull to other users.

Thanks in advance for your understanding.

raiden

PS: Couldn't tell if my pm was sent to the moderator. Sorry if it is the wrong place to do it.

PS2: What's the point of buying a PC Bluray drive if I wouldn't have discs to read from??????

The rules on this forum are quite clear:

It is okay to create backups, as long as you own the original discs and create the backups yourself and for your own personal use. As you admitted, you don't have the means to create the backup yourself. This means you obviously have downloaded the content from an illegal source. Whoever offered those files for download on the internet probably doesn't own the copyright (unless you can prove the opposite!), so it's clearly not a legal source. Whether you own the original discs (which we can't check) doesn't matter in this case. Consequently we cannot allow discussion or help with the content you obtained illegally. Also, discussion about "backups" that you share with or obtained from "your friends" cannot be allowed here.
