I just built a new system a AMD FX-8150 (3.6 x 8) and a Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 mobo. Default speed No O/Cing. My core runs at 63c on the second pass. I think it's a little hot. With my prior processor with the same push/pull dual fan cooler I never get above the mid 50s.

Perhaps I needed more thermal grease but I don’t think so. Anyone know if these processors are known for running hot?

It dropped to 29c after the 2nd pass, the CPU was running at 4%

YEP amd fx are hot. see reviews.

LOL. You should see my 95c on my overclocked Q6600@3Ghz ;)

Your CPU temperature is 63°C under heavy load (video encoding) and you are concerned? I think your cooling is working well.

(My Q6600 easily approaches 85°C under load, using the crappy "boxed" cooler, and it still is running stable after five years of video encoding ^^)

I am a little concerned. I know 65 peaks are not to bad for a full load but in the warmer months 65 can turn into 75 or higher. I ordered a corsair h40 water cooler $51 not bad and a new case, a Rosewill Challenger $49 it's bottom PS mount. I just built one for my wife and I used that case I think it will work much better. I can bump it up a little too.

Yea I went back and read a bunch of those reviews, after the fact. I went and read a bunch of the corsair h40 reviews and 410 were 5 star but 54 were 1 star. When water fails it’s catastrophic :scared:

Wow what a difference corsair h60 (h40 was a typo) water cooler made I rarely peak at 50c now. It’s extremely quite too. I have been used to the turbine sound of all my fans running fast.

The ergonomics of this case is fantastic. This is the 1st of the bottom mount power supply that I’ve seen. Also mounting the radiator in back up at the top, pulling cool air into the case and a 140mm top fan blowing it out. The PS pulls cool air in from the bottom and blows it out the back.

The fans all throttle up and down as needed. I could o/c it but I’m getting 2-3
hour encodes now.:D I may just leave it alone.

wanted to post how good the H60 has been working. It has never gotten higher than 53c under full load.

Glad its winter because it turned my PC into a nice space heater it blows the hot air right out the top.
