I have been using Procoder 3 for quite a long time on this PC. Recently a friend brought me a .mov container mpeg4 file that he wanted to converted to mpeg2 DVD files (VOB) to burn to a DVD.

When the conversion starts in the Procder 3 preview window the video looks like a white over exposed box, then it looks normal, then frequently I see in the preview the overexposed video. The source .mov file seems to be fine as I don't see the overexposure scenes the video plays as it should. When Procoder 3 provesses to mpeg2 compliant files I get this problem.

Extract the video stream using something like YAMB and try again. If procoder doesn't like that, then frameserve the h264 stream through dgavcdec/avisynth. If THAT doesn't work see if Virtualdub can decode the stream from the avisynth script correctly. If that's working, encode to something like HUFFYUV or Lagarith and Procoder will handle that without problem.
