As seen in this Youtube video :

Doesn't look all that exciting to me, other than being relatively fast (but with 640x480 input in the demo anything modern should be fast)

The direction intra prediction based solution and the overlapped transform based solution could be very fast. It is not surprissing that a image codec is with same compression rate with the jpeg2k and as fast as jpeg.
