View Full Version : Smooth text animations with 30fps?

Is this even possible?

I am on linux and tried to create text animations (simple side-scrolling) at 30fps, result is barely readable.
I had to use 60fps, which looks nice, but tends to kill my CPU on playback :)

Is this a bug in my video editors or is 30fps really not enough?

Here a 60fps and a 25fps example:

Typically you add motion blur, avoid thin lines, slow the panning rate, ease the keyframes

The most important factor in your case is to slow the animation. A typical "guideline" when shooting 24p pans is 7 seconds end to end (the so called "7 second rule") . 25p is going to be roughly the same pan rate. Motion graphics roughly follows the same guidelines . Your animation is roughly 2x that speed

Also note that while you ask about 30fps, you show 25fps example. Depending on playback environment (including software and hardware) there can be very noticeable difference between two. If it is barely readable to you - maybe this is the case too. Cause for me it is perfectly readable. Though not that smooth as 60 fps of course.

And oversampling - one of the most important things if text scrolling is made not by fixed, same amount of pixels each frame.
