View Full Version : 2 Questions About GordianKnot

I find GordianKnot a very nice program to convert movies, but after successfully converting a few films, I have 2 questions:

1. Does GordianKnot (or better yet DVD2AVI) parse the .IFO file at all?
I was just wondering what would happen if it tried to convert a movie where the scenes are not in the correct VOB order.

2. When I allow separate conversion of the credits, I've noticed that the converted film shows the credits but you can still see the remains of some of the just "fallen" credits when new credits fall. How would I go about *not* converting the credits at the fixed rate but at the normal rate? What should I choose in the 'Trim' section, 'No Trim' or 'Movie Only'?

Thanks in advance for any help.

1) no, that's why you have to use an ifo-parsing ripper like smartripper.

2) just don't trim and do not encode credits separately! ;)

Hi wef,

Thanks for the reply.

Regarding the answer to question 1:

Does that imply that SmartRipper re-shuffles the scenes into new VOBs so that they're in the correct order?

SmartRipper will overwrite any existing vob files with the same name, so if a certain vob contains two seperate parts of the movie and is processed twice the second copy will overwrite the first. This can get really annoying.

The easiest solution to this is to let SmartRipper save the movie chapter by chapter (you can find that in the preferences, "cut by chapter" or something). This way your movie will always be in the correct order, you'll only end up with a lot of files.
